How To Administer Narcan

Deciding to get help is the biggest and most important life decision you can make.

What Is Narcan?

Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is FDA-approved and serves as a safe and effective emergency opioid overdose treatment for at-home use.

Available for purchase at the pharmacy counter, Narcan can help reverse the symptoms of opioid overdose. Administered intranasally, this opioid antagonist rapidly mitigates the harmful sedative effects and may restore breathing within 2-8 minutes of administration.

For individuals with family members or friends who use opioid prescriptions or drugs such as Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Morphine, or Heroin, having Narcan available may help reverse the effects of an accidental opioid overdose. According to the manufacturer, Narcan, approximately every 11 minutes, an accidental opioid overdose occurs, with most happening at home. While not a substitute for emergency medical care, Narcan can be crucial when every second counts.
